There are several ways you can participate in Grow a Row FC:
Grow veggies, herbs and fruit to donate. No amount is too small. Thanks to several donors, including Virginia Cooperative Extension, we have soil test kits and seeds to give growers as well as tomato and bell pepper transplants. Weigh and prepare your donation, then take it to Food for Others in Merrifield Monday-Friday or drop your bagged/boxed donation into a box at one of several locations. Because these sites are private residences, you'll receive addresses in an email.
Be a garden mentor. Answer gardeners' questions, emailed to you from Grow a Row FC.
Deliver produce to Food for Others. Pick up the box of donated produce at a Falls Church city location and deliver it on Monday or Thursday afternoons. Drivers can sign up for specific time slots. Because the pick-up location is a private residence, you'll receive the address confidentially. It's near the intersection of Broad and West.
Host a drop-off location. We hope that many people will want to join Grow a Row FC, but understand that not everyone feels comfortable going to a food bank or pantry. You can help by hosting a site where neighbors can drop off their bagged or boxed donations on days and times set by you.
