About Grow a Row

Grow a Row FC started in May 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic crisis. In five months, gardeners in Fairfax County, Falls Church city & Fairfax city donated more than 2000 pounds of fresh produce through Grow a Row FC. In spring 2021, we expanded to start Grow a Row PW to serve Prince William County, Manassas & Manassas Park.

Many thanks to Adria Bordas, senior extension agent, and Virginia Cooperative Extension for supporting this effort with seeds and advice; also to Carly Aubrey, Diane Charles, Letty Hardi, Stephani Keen, Ross Litkenhous, Cory Suter, Sandy Tarpinian and Kate Walker for their support, ideas and seed donations. Huge thanks to Sean Cunniffe for designing the logo.

Grow a Row's director is Stacey Evers, vice chair of the Falls Church Environmental Sustainability Council and member of the Fairfax Food Council, where she co-chairs the Urban Ag Work Group. She also teaches environmental education at Belvedere ES in Fairfax County.

Grow a Row PW coordinator Michelle Rogers is passionate about healthy food and community gardens. She's a member of the Fairfax Food Council Urban Ag Work Group and is a master's candidate at George Mason University.
